The unknown

History will always remember the famous. However, it is worth remembering the countless unknowns, from the Romans and Egyptians who fought at Actium to the poets, musicians and mimes that nervously or confidently stood on stage at the Theatre of Nikopolis.  Even more so, the hundreds or even thousands of Epirus locals who, obeying Augustus’ decrees, gathered their belongings, locked their doors behind them and bade goodbye to their cities and homes, deserted ever since, to move to the newly-founded city of Nikopolis.
